23-year-old Jean Rougier Petit, one of the men responsible for several house break-ins and robberies in the St James area was shot dead on Wednesday. He was an ex-convict that lived in the Sando area with some men that recently got out of prison. He faced his death when he tried to break in to JP Don Assagarali Apartment at the corner of Kathleen and Bombay Streets. JP Don said that he was reading a book around 5am and heard his door being tampered with. He picked up his licensed firearm and headed to the door where Petit was armed with knife ready to attack. Don shot him once in the stomach killing him .
