That's exactly the point- People dont care. No matter how much your teachers, pastors or public official tells you about the dangers of aids people wont listen. It's part of our "culture" a culture of lewdness and overly sexual behaviour. Thats what we like, sexual promiscuity and things like that. Aids is a lifestyle disease not just a sexually transmitted one, unless trinis are willing to show some self control and abstain or at least conduct themselves responsibly when engaging in sex and its related behaviours AIDS will always be rampant.
Of course nobody wants to hear that its thier fault, it is always someone else who is responsible for the mess we find ourselves even though we are the ones who take actions that cause the mess.
Sure their are extreme cases where aids is spread deliberately but the vast majority of people who got infected had a choice of whether or not to take a risk or not. Now they have the results of their actions.
Even completely faithful people should get tested. Sounds easier than it is but its worth it to know if you or your partner is infected. It's not a death sentence, people with aids are living longer than ever but it's not worth the risk of contracting aids at all just because you refuse to modify your sexual behaviour. You shouldn't have to wait to get aids to realise that certain behaviours are wrong... but is trinidad we like we "ting"
