TriniHits vs TrinidadTunes at Caribbean Beat

In what looks like a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing the Caribbean Beat blog covered the launch of TriniHits earlier this year where we subsequently asked in a follow up about the model and the rights associated.
In the latest edition of the Caribbean Beat magazine Tracy Assing goes on to write that “the recently launched Trinidadtunes.com site is the first legal site for downloading music from Trinidad and Tobago.”
Not that these sites do not provide a good service but the traction of viewers and purchases in comparison to the foot traffic to the local music man may not be sustainable especially as these sites have yet to embrace affiliate marketing as a core driver of page views.
Trinidad Music Store as reported in the magazine as a founding partner has been seen advertising on the Express Online but not much in terms of affiliate deals or sales. Having come late to the online music distribution party what’s to stop the major market artistes from following the lead of Radiohead.
