Wi-Fi Hotspots in Trinidad and Tobago | Allyuh | Blog

Wi Fi Hotspots Recent news that British Telecommunications and FON have joined forces to create a Wi-Fi community that allows it members to connect for free to thousands of places around the UK and the world by simply sharing their internet connection at home lead me to seek out the number and availability of hotspots in Trinidad and Tobago.

Luckily the guys at Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society are way ahead and have compiled a list of venues such as restaurants and hotels where internet access via Wi-Fi is known to be available to patrons and visitors.

To make things even better the list is in a Wiki format allowing anyone who has come across additional hotspots not on the list to easily add them. To date there are 18 official hotspots listed but I am certain that many more exist from unsecured wireless routers. Maybe a couple of war drivers can double this list in a couple of days.

As the list grows and you don’t want to check it the TTCS have the list represented visually via a Google map (sample below).

For the community aspect of Wi-Fi that FON is striving for it is certainly commendable but your mileage may vary. Maybe our friendly neighborhood bloggers Jumbie or Modest Goddess can provide any experience they may have with the BTFon experience.

Disclosure: I am currently an inactive Fonero with a La Fonera.

I’m really glad there’s a local blog on this. Its 2009, and Wi-Fi spots are exploding. I only knew of 3 spots for Wi-Fi before today that I use. Really , seek and u must find these days. ;). All our Libraries have Wi-Fi, and Rituals Cofee (a must). COMING SOON , WI-MAX maybe? Lets see.
