Politics Online
Oct 8th, 2007 by Dre
With the general election day established as November 5th I have decided to take a look at each political party’s online presence and ongoing activities toward either attracting new members, delivering their messages and extending their platform toward garnering votes in the election.
Throughout the month of October you can expect to see each party profiled with their efforts and thoughts on how well I think they are doing.
I established 6 criteria for measurement that include a mix of social media and party efforts to cultivate their online presence. These six criteria include:
1. Website
2. Wikipedia
3. Blog
4. Facebook
5. Hi5
6. YouTube
If you believe that some additional online presence metric should be looked at please do so in the comments and I will take them into consideration.
The political parties range from the perennial heavyweights to the virtually unknown and covers:
UNC - United National Congress
PNM - Peoples National Movement
NAR - National Alliance for Reconstruction
COP - Congress of the People
NJAC - National Joint Action Committee
MND - Movement for National Development
DPTT - Democratic Party of Trinidad and Tobago
DNA - Democratic National Alliance
I had looked at other political parties but some of them seem to have fallen on the wayside, recently formed with no current online presence and therefore will not be analyzed.
