Blink Broadband Goes Live
Oct 6th, 2007 by Dre
The website for TSTT’s upgraded service Blink Broadband has gone live and is now accessible.
TSTT is calling Blink “the fastest, most affordable Broadband service in Trinidad & Tobago that offers customers a great bundled package of an ADSL connection, an Internet connection and a Firewall service.”
Blink offers two promotional pricing packages, a Residential and a Business package as well as deployment indicators of when you can expect the service to be available in your area.
As E speculated in Broadband Wars, the increased competition is good but who would choose TSTT if the others are available to be locked into a contract and have to deal with their customer service.
If anyone gets an opportunity to try them out let us know of your experience.

i dont like the idea of contract services and internet is way too expensive in trinidad and tobago come on tstt this thing is free in american libraries and like 20 bucks for a broadband connection, hence the reason i will never promote anything concerning tstt and i prefer to live in america and enjoy real internet rather than this petty unstable thing tstt call “broadband”
hmmmmm……….boy is ppl like you who does be hidin an workin america…..wait till immigration ketch yuh….bad talking blink ….steups…..yuh dis respectful to we country……good riddance for we country
then leave….is people like you who keep tnt back!
I understand qhat you mean but you should demand better not duck and run!
Nobody bar none hates tstt more than i do. seriously. But the fact is…this is real improvement..not as much as we’d like..but improvement nonetheless. Any step forward is a long way off from the current meagre offerings in my book. Internet service is in a good place right now in trinidad…we got flow..which means tstt has to be on their toes (what do you think was the big rush to throw millions into advertising for a service that isnt ready in over half the country anyway?)Actually…both companies are. And THAT my friends…is a good place to be right now. For us jaded consumers anyway.
I was asked to apply online for service contract. living in newtown which is advertised as service ready by blink/tstt. having had no acknowledgement of our application, phoned blink hotline to be told that we would have to wait for between 3 to 6 weeks for someone to contact us and get internet service.
it s now 3 weeks and countng….
how is it that we kind of feel let down all the time by tstt or its subs?
I’ve been wating for blink since december last year, finally got the modem in july 2008, and to date 08/10/2008 still don’t have the service, they said that i’m out of range, well if i’m out of range, then why give me the modem and bill me for it?
I am a patriotic citizen, i never even purchased a digicel phone, i was tempted to take flow broadband however i decided against it and was glad that tstt was offering broadband at a very affordable prices. I immediately called and asked for the service, they took my application over the phone and told me someone would contact me in 6 weeks, it is now two months and not a word. I decided to call back only to be told they lost my application and i have to reapply online and wait another 6 weeks to get a activated. that is really poor, i’m sorry to say. i am now considering taking flow broadband since they deliver in 3 working days and i dont have a long hard form to fill out.
i live in laventille and they told e to wait 6 - 8 weeks …. its now week 7 and still nothing .. and because i live in laventille i have no choice to go with flow … i think it sad that the people in laventille made it what it have become today becuase of it flow will come digital in laventille possible LAST …… o and o the 2nd week some other ignorant person cut the phone lines for the copper and it aint fix yet … jeez!
I got Flow 2MB unlimited package yesterday and it works really well. I have a friend who is taking the Blink 2MB package. Once he does we will compare notes and keep you all informed.
ey yo d thinker here ..here this why does blink has an internal firewall stopping u from playing multiplayer games an such..its so irritating….cud any remove this firewall dat i here is internal
i’ve signed up for blink since 2007.they said that my area was part of phase 2 which was supposed to end in january. nobody has come to my house to set my computer configuration like they said would. tstt iz jus a big settup company. bess i continue to theif wireless internet from the cyber cafe up de road yes.
Justin - I feel your pain. Each time I call they tell me that my area is ready but they don’t know “when” I’ll be upgraded - this is since last year.
First I was told to sign up and within a couple of weeks I would be upgraded - I’m still waiting.
I finally got my blink. i got the 512kbps package. The 1st 2 days it worked stupendously and after that it went to dial-up speed. Yes folks, i was getting bandwith results as low as 2okbps. How depressing….after i discovered aol/xm radio. Anyways Tstt said that is certainly not normal and they would be coming to checking it out soon. I hope that day comes real quick. I really miss the high speed.
Im in princes town and i have signed up for 1 mb blink broad band since january 8th 2008. Princes Town is supposed to be blink broad band ready, so what is the problem? Noone has called to give me my internet password orarrive by my house to give me my modem. Last year2007 , December my telephone line was down and it took tstt one month to fixed a simple telephone line so i could receive and make calls. I really blame Gov’t for all his headache and inefficiency that trinbagonians are experiencing today, gov’t fostered tstt(a monopoly)for donkey years shielding them from competition and inturn tstt raped trinis of thier time, and hard earn money with thier unjustly high prices and ridiculously poor quality services.
well i got my blink connection but nobody explained to to my mother what they did… they jus came and put eveything and left. now i have to take time of from my job and go into tstt and find out all the relevent information. come on people try and do your jobs like professonals…
i have read all of the above comments and i have to agree with every one when they say tstt is the worst telephone and internet service provider they should be ashamed to advertise for a service they can not provide for everyone in trinbago and they keep blaming it on your system
allyuh i now seeing on d link application form dat dey chargin real money….activation $552: Technician Installation; $402.50 and Set-up Package costs; $57.50
dis is real crap…..when i signed up in nov las yr that wasn’t there at all……dey had to be mad….so ppl allyuh look out for dis
[...] services provider for the Senate’s suggestion but by all estimates they will either be on the Blink or [...]
Well, i live in the penal area and applied for blink broadband since november 2007. I was told that phase 2 of the project will cover my area whithin the months of nov - jan. well guess what ?? Its march.. I have kept on calling to find out when it will be ready and they said that in the end of april. Tstt has NO time management or prioritization. It fails the country once more … Has TSTT ever been able to deliver a seamless service ? If you can say yes, then i will shoot myselff.. I was also told that i need to sign up online, but the sign up link isnt working..how great is that ? i get to contact TSTT using my telepathic powers to sign up…
[...] Blink Broadband, the TSTT rebranded internet service despite having numerous issues seems to have struck on an ingenious marketing plan. [...]
My Aunt went ytdy to sign up for blink and they told her that they STOP TAKING APPLICATIONS because they have toooooo much. You could belive such utter dotishness???? So they cyah take her application and they don’t know when they could take her application. So we just hafta wait……steups
So the only reason that Tstt introduced blink broadband just a few months ago was because they had to become competitive with trindadflow and greendot or else they would lose alot of thier profits. Tstt was not going to upgrade their services if they weren’t face with competition(they enjoyed screwing over trinis) It is my knowledge that adsl+2 technology was availble 3yrs ago. Trinis surely have remarkable patience waiting this lengthly period for broadband.
dat is tru why cant dey jus form in to one company an stop all this competitive rubbish
Just sign up with greendot internet service they are the best. http://www.gd.tt
I agree with the previous comment by ps240gig, TSTT does enjoys screwing us over, but now that I have BLINK, I have no problem with it, the service is very good and in comparison to greendott, I see it as a better because it is better interms on price… just look at it $79 as opposed to $360 for the same speed, and even the connecting prices are cheaper. Competition is what TSTT needs to offer us come kind of service.. how i see it… bring on the competition!
I understand but Greendot has 24/7 service and that’s what you are paying for, not to mention you don’t have to wait more than a few days for internet.
well well,i’m from couva i applied for my blink since 2007-09-17 i got it at 2008-03-16 even if it;s 256k it was so much faster than dial up ^_^ 4 months later my status light came off.. i called blink and soon found out that the switch that i was connect to is faulty it;s been a month and some days and each time i call blink they tell me that they dont know the status because the tech didnt update his tickets i also call them every monday and friday and they keep tell me that they will put it on high priority and that;s like the 10th time…..i’m in my final semester doing my degree and i need my internet to finish my projects so i applied for blink at my ant’s house in st.james got it in 2 weeks and then only worked for another 2 weeks….our phones line is down… i’m being billed for 2 internet connection in which i’m not receiving service for…i would really like to talk to the Ceo in tstt or who ever is in charge at blink..i ‘m really pissed off if i dont get my projects in time to hand up i will “Snap” and i’m a very patient person…..
thank goodness i don’t live in trinidad anymore. it continues to be backward, small-minded, and inept.
I’m fed up of living here! I signed up for this in 2007 and still haven’t got it, despite sending in the application about 15 times! Waiting for Flow to come in March hopefully if they’re not as lazy-assed as TSTT. TSTT, bmobile, Blink, my school and the whole of Trinidad can suck my dick when I go to either Michigan or Tennessee in the middle of 2010.
this is what i got to say, blink uses 3 gates that your connection needs to pass through to access the internet(not sure how much flow uses) and the latency(ping) between them are high when ppl abusing blink’s network at the same time, usually from the afternoon till late in the night thus the lag in games, slow streaming speeds, even msn sometimes no longer instant messaging where it takes 5 seconds to send a message. There is also this contract blink impose on its consumers in order to get a wifi modem and slightly discounted monthly rentals. my final advice to people that are thinking of getting blink, DONT. terrible customer service, like others before me i applied for blink and got it 4 months later rather than the 6-8 weeks they promised. blink’s network is heavily congested during the day. and nowadays flow 4mb is more or less the price of blink’s 2mb package.
i have blink 2mb, i say fuck it, goin flow asap
I say tstt does jus screw over every1 , i sign up for a data sim connection as of october,2008 the technician at independence square did not even know how to hook up my computer and my cell phone, on my way out i was stopped by the security guard which he assisted me an installed everything on my laptop. The funny things is why tstt paying their employees for if they can not even do dey jobs, on top of that i ask for my data sim to be disconnected because i had some issues with the connection i was told unless i pay off for my last bill they will not stop billing me. No connection, no internet but i’m still being bill i finally paid all outstanding bills an billing that i didn’t even have internet connection for and close off my account, only to my disbelieve that was not the end of it i receive a bill july stating that i have an outstanding balance. “Boy i’m really disappointed with tstt and on top of that if they ever send me a billing again they will be receiving a letter from my attorney.
wel flow will be good, but im frm d bush an wel flow nt comin by me soon. ima avid cod4 player, and playin on a 300+ ping sux ass, esp at night it seems as though blink’s ping was fixed in sando and pos bt not in the penal/ptown/debe area…i smell discrimination…an since we hav no other broadband option in the bush…they have no competition, and hence no reason to fix it
Hey People,
Hear how I am unlucky.I have signed up for blink since 2007.I live in Preysal.I have been calling non stop for blink. The same answer I always get’the exchange is not ready. No Flow cable is by me,Greendot didn’t work’too many high trees’ around.Anyway I need the speed to complete my on line degree.Sadly ,I am still waiting.I will finish the degree and blink will never reach Preysal. You all think you all have it bad.I don’t even have it.Preysal is cursed by the almighty TSTT!
I’m switching to Flow on the 16th. I have been with blink for 5 years of crappy internet service. I’ve been paying for a 10mb connection ($786.00 per month) and i never get what i pay for not even 5mb. They keep telling me the problem is with the exchange in Mausica, (I’m in Arima) and there is nothing they can do. Imagine a problem for 5 years. They have taken my money long enough, good rid dens Blink hello Flow 15mb.
Now you’ve deterred me. I went through the whole process of installing a land-line JUST to get blink broadband 4mb ($350/mth). Now I’m wondering if I’ll even get 2mb at all!! & flow hasn’t even “digitalized” my area as yet. sigh…
