i know i can't operate without access... and even when i have a full days work i still need to escape to the net... because it breaks the monotony

its about managing the time you have while @ your workplace... if you can't - get a machine @ home, contact an ISP and spend as much time online as you want... just remember that tomorrow you may have to go to work...

the thing is I am not sure I can operate under conditions where anything is blocked. It may be time to think of how an employer can harness the productivity of an employee while not infringing on their personal activities. One could argue that when you are on company time you are supposed to be doing company business but most persons with access to the internet do not have a full eight hours of work to get done and if they do they are not enjoying it..

my current employer doesn't neither did my previous... I know people whose employers block practically everything... and I totally agree with blocking... not only for security reasons... but productivity does suffer... guess where i am now :D

there are persons who genuinely need access to online resources but many company resources are already overloaded by non-work related emails... something I also have a problem with...
