TSTT Upgrades Broadband

TSTT TSTT is upgrading the speed and capacity of their broadband network to effectively service more customers at faster speeds. The service is allegedly called Blink Broad Band even though the website is currently unavailable.

TSTT said the project “will ultimately deliver broadband access speeds of up to 10Mbps and reach every exchange in Trinidad and Tobago”.

Trevor Deane, TSTT’s executive vice-president Broadband Services, said TSTT will now be able to extend the distance limitations that were a feature of its current High-Speed Internet offering.

“We have invested in ‘future proof’ technologies that are versatile enough to support current and emerging technologies,” he said.

Meanwhile the residential rate packages for the use of the new speeds are reportedly:

Speed / Cost in TT dollars

256k —— $79.00
512k ——- $149.00
1MB ——- $229.00
2MB ——- $349.00
Up to 10MB —— $699.00

Compared with the current rates of TSTT’s residential Dial-Up Unlimited package at $345.00 TT and the DSL 256k package at $460.00 TT.

Allyuh, it was working last night. Means nothing to us folks in the South, though!

[...] Some time ago, Flow raised their package speeds, bumping people like me up from 512kbps to 2Mbit and the 2Mbit to 6. Flow was really giving TSTT a whipping, but it seems TSTT is putting all the money they were able to weasel out of consumers to use, allowing for some lower prices as we covered before. [...]

I am paying for a 2 mb connection with Flow and lots of times
my download rate drops to below 200kbs. and sometimes as low as 66kbs.
(almost like dialup)

While I may not switch back to tstt, competition in broad band
is good for the customers.
