This is about a popular tool that the internet has and uses for traffic rank and analysis called Alexa. Alexa is a company of Amazon that is best known for operating a website that provides information on the web traffic to other websites.

Alexa collects information from users who have installed an “Alexa Toolbar,” allowing them to provide statistics on web site traffic, as well as lists of related links.

The good thing is that Alexa breaks out the traffic rank by country. If it is something that interest you the top sites from Trinidad and Tobago can be looked at on Alexa.

The Top 10 Sites by Alexa for users originating from Trinidad and Tobago is as follows:
1. Microsoft Network
2. Yahoo
3. Hi5
4. Windows Live
5. Google.tt
6. The Facebook
7. Google
8. YouTube

10. Myspace

Looking at the top 10 sites they seem to be topped by user’s homes pages which make up 50 percent of the top 10. It must be noted however that the installation of the tool bar that collect and reflect these stats may not be a representative sample and may be skewed to one particular demographic.

There is also a distinctive scale in the adoption of Trinidad and Tobago users to social networking sites. It is currently dominated by Hi5 at #3 which ranks above Google.tt which is the default homepage with TSTT ISP followed by FaceBook at #6 and MySpace at #10.

I expect to see FaceBook possibly moving up now as they have recently opened up the site to everyone and the shift in demographics and the supposed stickiness of the site.
