Akon - Apology Remix
Jun 14th, 2007 by Dre
So Akon has again said sorry to the world for the things he has done but this time via song and by extension Danah.
I soon expect to see a Throw Some Kids Remix to this, maybe as a mashup on Youtube.
For the complete roundup of Akon and Danah at Zen see Verizon Disconnects Akon where you can find the pictures, the reactions and the fallout from that night at the club.
In the meanwhile what do you think of the song?

I really like the song, actually. It’s good, and he manages to “apologize” in song, so everyone is hearing it and will now, probably feel sorry for him while he gets publicity. Akon Wins.
I first heard about (and heard) the song here. I then heard it blasting from a car stereo next to me as I was stuck in traffic this morning. The melody and tone of the piece struck me as a distinct ‘echo’ of one of his other popular songs. To me it sounds just like the one all the maxis play - ‘nobody wants to see us together’, etc. I therefore don’t find it innovative or original. Many people think of this song as an apology. Someone even wrote a letter to the Editor congratulating Akon on the song and telling him that he has set such a good example to everyone by ‘apologising’. I personally find the lyrics to be sarcastic and ingenuine. The song is merely a PR move - most likely designed to get people to upload videos to Youtube, write about it/him on blogs, play it on radios and comment on it/him in comments sections. (:o) Arrgh, I’ve been konned into doing just that!
I’ve had that same reaction myself. I saw the letter to the Editor and have seen several rants concerning it but I’m sure Akon is doing this for himself, sorta like I’m sorry but thanks for the publicity.
Hence the reason I called it apology remixed seeing that he had already issued an earlier written statement, Too bad that just when Danah was seeing some light at the end of the tunnel he had to immortalize her in song.
u know what ?!!?.
i think this is rediculous. because it WASNT ALL akons fault !
shes frikken 14 for god sake !. she shouldn’t have been in a club 21+. he shouldn’t be blaming himself. how was he supposed to know she was 14 ? its a CLUB !! i have sympathy for akon. because now everyones saying SOO MANY different stories.. that him && a buddy molested her on stage. from the pictures that i seen it loooked like she was smiling in all of them && having a good time. if he was molesting her, dont you think she wouldv’e been yelling “”get off me”" ? so i dont get it that akon is getting blamed for this whole thing. im pretty sure she should be the one getting blamed for ALL of it. && her “”father”". some father that is huh ? letting his 14 year old go out to a 21+ club ? I LOVE THIS SONG ! && its not just about the club incident .the first verse is to his wife. the second one is to his MOM !,. && the third verse is to his fans && the press && everyone else.. akon you shouldn’t put this blame on you. you were just having fun like EVERYONE does at a club !. i have alot of respect for you akon. youv’e been through alot & ur still pulling through !!.. GOOD JOB AKON !!.. woot woot. lol
I’ve yet to see an apology in the lyrics. So far he blamed everyone except himself.
Akon deserves no blame for the club incident. The girl shouldn’t have been there in the first place. It was an over 21 club. If he did that to a consenting adult there would be no problem. She obviously consented (smiling and having fun in the pics). The only problem is she isn’t an adult - he couldn’t have known.
I like the song. I like the humor. I like how he exposes the fact that the blame should NOT be on him but he’ll take it for the love of his fans. Plus, the song rox.
