The categories and nominees for the 5th Annual International Soca Awards presented by the Soca Awards Association have been announced.

There are a total of 40 categories and LeXXXus Sound which have been profiled and released both Soca Gone Clear and Trinidad Remixed here at Allyuh has been nominated in Category 36-Best Soca DJ Mix CD for Soca Gone Clear.

For a comparison here is a complete list of the 2006 Soca Award winners. Now that the Soca Awards Association has released the 2007 nominee list maybe they will see it fit to update their website to reflect the 5th Annual Awards and not last year’s show and inform us as to the process of selection, nomination and the actual date of the award ceremony.

Most of the categories have a maximum of 5 nominees except for a couple of categories where the nominators apparently could not dwindle the field down any further and decided to nominate up to 15 persons (Category 30).

The nominees themselves seem to represent a range of geographical locations making the list a truly international one even though the omission of Junko or Mimi representing for the far east is questionable.

Let me know what you think of the categories and the nominees and you can even give me your picks. If you want I suggest you start with Category 37 as you have a 50/50 chance of being correct.
