I actually have a draft post about that as I came across it when he posted. :)
With him having committed to it though even after spending the significant amount in comparison to a dot com it would be cause a problem if the gov't took control of the domains ah had been suggested and portioned them out.

Have you seen Matt, the wordpress founder, is now http://ma.tt
He went through the complicated process to register that domain.
(Apologies if you are comment moderating and I posted similarly before, you can delete this)

by quality i mean in terms of brand recognition... there are no .tt sites that roll off the tongue or have a mass following cept gov.tt ... back in the day the biggest site with a .tt was the guardian's and it was beyond FUGLY... the others (none of which i remember) were not much better. TriniGourmet is the brand so if i did get a .tt it would be trinigourmet.tt but i don't see the point or benefit when '.com' is how the global mind autocompletes URLs

What exactly do you mean by the quality of the existing dot TT sites.
The barrier to entry with a dot TT right now is the price, I believe that if the price were more conducive then the "quality" would increase.
If the price were in line and the government stays clear the demand may pick up and I surely would purchase a couple.
Just think of food.tt pointing to trinigourmet.com. Not a bad marketing platform to launch from.

.tt has been totally devalued by the quality of most of the sites that use it... it's nothing i would pay for, let alone pay premium for... .com all the way...

I think I'd definitely purchase a dot TT if the price were not prohibitive, but I am not sure about the Government as a provider.
