We follow up the coverage of the basics of Modifying the User Profile by focusing on Viewing the User Profile.

As we said, the user profile is separated into two main sections that each render unique functionalities. One section allows for you to View your profile and the other to Edit your profile.

In an earlier Macco Tools post we also covered the basics of viewing the profile of other users.

Today we cover the View Profile page. This page as indicated by its name allows you to view the details of your profile that you have modified, your specific user statistics as well as other functionalities.

The first section of the page displays your user name and the avatar you have chosen. If you have not picked an avatar the default will be shown. Below the avatar is the userbar that controls what is displayed of your profile within the view section.

We will dissect the tab that is selected and highlighted in red in the image above which is the Personal Info Tab. Directly below the controlling user bar is a section that display the last 5 people to have viewed your profile.

Directly below that section another section is displayed with three options.

Option 1 “View RSS feed” allows for you to subscribe to your own RSS feed or another user’s RSS feed. This feed will show all of the stories submitted by the user.
Option 2 when viewing one’s own profile will allow a user to “View My Friends”.
Option 3 when viewing ones one’s profile will allow for a user to “View people who’ve added me as a friend”.

When viewing another user’s profile, Option 2 and Option 3 appears as “Add User to my friends.” (see image below) This allows for you to add the user to your friends list.

The section below and to the left of the options contains a snapshot of the Personal Information that you have entered when modifying your profile. This will display as little or as much information that you have chosen to share with the community. If you need to change or update any of your profile information the “Modify” button in this section will take you to the modify page.

The section to the right consist of User Stats based on your activities. The first statistic is your Joined date, followed by the Total links or number of stories submitted.

The Popular links pulls from how many of your stories have been voted by the community to the Popular front page whereas the Comments displays the number of comments you have made on all stories on Allyuh.

Votes shows the number of votes you have made on stories and Popular votes amounts to the number of your votes you have received for your stories that have appeared on the Popular page.

Karma is a function that we are currently testing that we eventually hope to fully implement and will discuss in detail at a later time.

The last section on this Personal Info tab is a Bookmarklet tool that allows for easy submission of stories. You can also check out some more of our Tools here.

The other tabs in the Master userbar such as Submitted, Popular, Upcoming and Commented function as:

Submitted - Displays the stories you have submitted

Popular - Displays the stories the user had submitted that have been voted to be popular.

Upcoming - Stories that the user has submitted and have not yet been voted on or made it to the popular page. As you can see their are no Upcoming items for this user and this function is across the board that the tab will remain empty if the qualifications are not met.

Commented - Stories that the user has made a comment on.
